Are You Using Zoombucks Yet?

I'm relatively new to Zoombucks, but I like it so far. It's similar to Swagbucks, but it seems like I win a bit more often. Each time you search, you have the opportunity to win Zoombucks. You can also complete surveys, offers, etc. for Zoombucks.

Each Zoombuck is worth 1 cent. I like having a monetary amount to pin on the buck. Once you have 2,000 points you can redeem for a $20.00 Amazon.com e-gift card. After your first redemption you can redeem once you have reached 1,000 points. I haven't actually redeemed anything yet, but it appears simple enough.

A few things I've picked up on to earn $0.06 a day is to click on ZDailyMain on the left sidebar every twenty-four hours. I always win 4-5 Zoombucks after typing in text from an advertisement. Also, once a day I click on GWallet on the same sidebar and pick up $0.01 or 1 Zoombuck for doing the same thing. If you search under "Free" often times you'll find videos for a couple Zoombucks just for watching also.

I can't wait to earn my first Amazon e-gift card from them! To see how I earn lots of Amazon money, check out my previous post.

Crafty Ideas That Are Frugal and Fun (Plus 2 Free Issues to Family Circle)

Yesterday we got hit with about nine inches of snow so I was "stuck" inside for part of the day with my pre-schooler. I love days like these because it gives us lots of time to do crafts that would otherwise probably never get done on a day to day basis.

When I get a magazine that contains children's crafts or neat recipes for kids, I tear out the pages and organize them into a notebook by recipes, craft idea and what type of craft makings we would need. This way I'm no thanging on to tons and tons of magazines but only the relevant pages.

There are lots of Free Magazines out there, so I don't pay for any of them. Right now you can sign up for Two Free Issues of Family Circle and start your own notebook!!

Yesterday I knew I wanted a project with popsicle sticks and paint, so I went to my trusty notebook and found animal bookmarks. I think they turned out great and we had everything on hand.

For this project you need 6 popsicle sticks (we used craft sticks, but if you have popsicles - eat them and then wash the sticks!!), paints (we used washable crayola paints), colored cardstock, googly eyes and assorted pom-poms, stickers, etc.

We simply cut circles, ears, etc. and made faces, painted the popsicle sticks (let dry), and then glued them on! Simple and loads of fun!! I think the ladybug would make a great Valentine's Day gift for grandmothers!!

Kroger FREEBIES!

I have found a new Kroger that I love to shop and it's so convenient that I can't believe I've not shopped the store before! Plus, they even have the kid size shopping carts. My son loves to push it and I can actually shop!!

This week there are several Freebies that I wanted to grab to add to my pantry (and closet)!
I purchased:

3 Colgates - on sale for $1.00 each
Used 3 $0.50/1 MQ (from 1/2 insert), doubled
FREE!

3 Yokisoba Noodle Packs - $0.89 each
(FYI - these are quite yummy)
Used 3 $0.50/1 MQ (from 1/2 insert) doubled
FREE!

2 Mahatma Yellow Rices - $0.99 each
Used 2 $0.50 off any Mahatma Rice (prior insert), doubled
FREE!

Redeemed at CVS This Week - $0.50 for ALL pictured!

I wasn't real thrilled with my CVS purchases earlier this week. I was disappointed because two different CVS's were out of a sale product and I wanted to go ahead and get my shoping done. However, I feel like I redeemed myself today when I went in and got everything you see below for a mere $0.11!! Tax brought my total up to $0.50!

Doesn't this go nicely with my New Year's Resolution to do better with my food couponing?

I purchase the following:

2 bags of chips $5.00
3 12-pack Pepsi products $10.00
4 2-liter Pepsi products $4.00
1 Sobe $1.00
Total $20.00

I used:

FREE Sobe Coupon (won from sweeps)
$4.00/$20.00 CVS email coupon
$14.89 ECB's
Paid $0.50
Received back $10.00 ECBs for next shopping trip!

Shopping for Services (An Effort to Spend/Pay Less)

Recently I posted about shopping around for veterinary services for one of my dogs diagnosed with bladder stones. My regular vet wanted over approximately $1,000.00 for a surgery I wasn't convinced my dog needed. Turns out she didn't need it (the stones dissolved on a special diet (YAY!) and I ultimately ended up switching vets. The visits and special diet cost me around $350.00, but I saved $650.00 and my dog from recovery from a major surgery, which to me was the most important part.

Moving on, I took a look at our financials and the area that I think is worth shopping around for lower rates is insurance. We carry multiple policies so I thought a look through was necessary. After gathering my paperwork for each item we insure (i.e. house, automobiles, etc.), I called my mom.

Trust me, you're never too old to call your mom! She gave me some good advice. She said to raise my deductibles. Now I realize this isn't the best choice for everyone and I am by no means suggesting to anyone that you do this. Her thinking (and now mine) is that families should get together in this economy and work together to help save each other money. Should the need arise to actually need the insurance coverage (which hopefully it will not) then the question becomes how much of a deductible can you afford? If you have a large family, then what if everyone could pitch in a little if it was an event large enough that you needed help anyway? Surely if your house burnt down, your family could help with a larger deductible because chances are they are going to be the first ones to help you anyway, whether it's buying clothes, housing you etc.

By just raising our deductible a few hundred dollars we were able to save $40.00 a year on homeowner's insurance.

Auto insurance is the same idea. Since we would never turn anything in that would be a small repair we figured that a $500.00 deductible sounded fair. So by simply by raising our deductible to $500.00 we saved more than $350.00 a year on our policy!! We did not and do not suggest lowering any limits on liability etc. So we were able to keep the higher limits, but save on the deductible.

That's almost $400.00 a year folks!!

Again I'm not suggesting you raise your deductibles, but if you can afford or have enough help to do it, then it can be a real money saver.

I'm finding more and more that shopping for services can be a BIG money saver! Businesses want and NEED your business these days, so they are more likely to match or beat competitor prices.

Hand Washing Timer - Fun Freebie for Kids!

You can request up to 3 Free Hand Washing Timers. These are great for teaching your kids how long to wash their hands! I ordered two for my son who likes to do what I call a "speed wash". This way hopefully I won't have to keep sending him back to the bathroom to re-wash! (Thanks Cha-Ching on a Shoestring)

Managing Multiple Survey Sites

I've had several people ask me how I find time to do so many surveys and how I keep up with so many sites.

Here are some of the steps I take:

1. I use one email account for all survey sites. This is a separate account from my personal email so I don't have to deal with any junk mail coming into my personal account.

2. I check my survey email daily. Before I do anything else, I immediately delete any junk mail that has come in and save only survey invitations. This can eliminate more than half of my emails sometimes.

3. I organize my email. I made a folder for each survey site so I can quickly move any point verifications, redemption emails, etc. to the folder to keep track of my rewards.

4. I earn my computer time and I don't watch much TV. After my son goes to bed and I spend approximately 1/2 hour cleaning house, then I feel like I've earned the time to spend on the computer. I go to my survey email and simply start with the first email and go one by one, no matter which site the next invite came from.

5. When I'm done, if there is still time, I pick one survey site to actually go to their page and see if there are any other open opportunities on the site itself. Most of the time, you'll find that there are. Each night I pick a different site, so I can make the most of each site over the course of a week. I also take that time to check point levels and see if I can redeem for anything.

6. If I don't want to, I don't. If I don't feel up to surveys one night, then I simply don't do any. I might do step number 2, but otherwise I just start again the next day.

One other hint: When you join a survey site, be sure to take a few minutes to fill out your initial profile. This saves you time from not qualifying for surveys, as you'll get more tailored survey invitations, based on your profiles, sent to you.

You'd be surprised how an hour each evening can really help you rack up the points for rewards. Happy Surveying!

Coupon to Print and Save - Stayfree B1G1 Free

Go ahead and print the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Stayfree Coupon (look under personal care). Save this coupon for later, as often times you'll find that drugstores like CVS or Rite Aid offer Stayfree at Buy 1 Get 1 Free. Combine their sale with the coupon and get 2 packages completely Free!

ZoomBucks - A Few Hints to Earn More Each Day!

I always win 5 Zoombucks after typing in text from an advertisement. Also, once a day I click on GWallet on the same sidebar and pick up $0.01 for doing the same thing.

I can't wait to earn my first Amazon e-gift card from them!
