Extra Money with CashCrate

This is a real check for $21.70 that I received from CashCrate just for filling out surveys. You are able to sort the surveys by rating and by 100% Free, which is how I always do mine. Next I always read the instructions, because sometimes you only have to fill out the first two pages of a survey and then click on one offer (This does NOT mean you have to take it). After submitting, it usually takes less than 24 hours to confirm and the money appears in your account. You have to earn $20.00 (the minimum payout) to receive a check after the 15th of the month following when you received the minimum.
If you are interested in signing up you can click on the CashCrate banner on the left of the screen, or click here. Good luck!

I haven't done a CVS post in a while, but I got some great things last week and again today so I'm starting to get excited about CVS again!
A couple of days ago I went in and scanned my card and was excited to receive a $5.00 off $15.00 purchase! I also received a $1.00 off any St. Ives product!
So today I purchased the following:
2 Johnson's Buddies soaps ($1.39 each)
Used $1.00 off 1 Johnson's product here and
$1.00 off any Johnson's product manufacturer's coupon (MQ)
2 Snickers Bars (2 for $0.99)
Used $0.50 off 2 found in today's newspaper
CVS Paper Plates ($2.99)
Puffs Tissues ($0.88)
Pull Ups refillable Flushable Wipes ($4.29)
Used $1.00 off MQ mailer from Huggies
St. Ives trial size cream ($1.49)
Used $1.00 CVS coupon printed
Colgate Max Toothpaste ($2.99)
Used $0.75 MQ found in today's paper
CVS Green Tag ($0.99)
(You attach this to your reusable shopping bag and each time you go they scan it and you earn 1 ECB for every 4 times they scan the tag.
Total cost $17.40
Less coupons and $5.00/$15.00 = $10.25 savings
Used $5.50 in ECBs
Total OOP $2.21 which I put on a giftcard I earned from completing surveys for Lightspeed. So actually I paid nothing Out Of Pocket!! I earned back $2.00 in ECBs!

Wall Art on the Cheap!

If you have kids then this project is perfect! Need a place to store all the great little art projects they come home with? I saw this in a magazine and had to try it.

First we cut a square out of a cardboard box. Then we used a piece of white felt with gold dots on it, but feel free to paint the cardboard (that's what the instructions said) or use a different kind of material. I liked the felt because it was thicker, it isn't slippery so it helps hold every thing in place and because it was FREE. My mom has a stash of material in her room that she uses for sewing and she and I scrounged through and found this.

We simply hot-glued the fabric on cardboard by pulling it around and only glueing at the back. Then I added 6 large rubber bands- 3 across and 3 down and then a piece of hanging wire attached to the center rubber bands in the back and Voila! Daniel's very own art center!

I hung it in our dining room and it doubles as wall art, and it's quite the conversation piece!

I plan to make a couple as gifts and it's also perfect for a teen who needs a spot to hang photos on the wall and avoid tack marks. Just add a few more rubberbands!

This project cost me $1.00 (for the rubberbands - found a multi pack from the dollar tree)!!

Utilizing my Breadmaker - Cinnamon Rolls from Scratch

A few weeks ago we had a big snowstorm and I realized too late that we did not have enough bread in the house. So I pulled out and dusted off my breadmaker and proceeded to make a loaf of bread. It was great and I remembered just how easy it was.

Fast forward to today when I decided I just had to have cinnamon rolls. I pulled out my handy breadmaker cookbook and sure enough there was a dough recipe for cinnamon rolls. I have never made dough before in the machine (or at all - shocker I know) but I decided to give it a whirl.

I put the ingrediants in the bread pan. Water, sugar, yeast, butter, flour, salt, dry milk....WHAT? Dry milk?? I have never used dry milk before so I did what any respecting woman would do.

I called my mom.

She suggested using powder creamer instead - and guess what? It worked!!

I set the breadmaker to dough and waited. In the meantime I laid out wax paper, floured it, greased my pan and made my glaze. Glaze is easy. Powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, regular sugar. YUM!

Once the dough was done, I laid it out and since I don't own a rolling pin (I know another shocker!) I used a tupperware cup and rolled out the dough. I then spread melted butter, sugar, cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar on the dough.

I went to roll it up and I learned two things. 1. My dough was rising fast and I couldn't roll it fast enough. 2. I didn't use enough flour and I'm pretty sure there is one roll with a piece inside of it so we'll eat carefully!

I cut them, placed them in the pan and let them rise for 40 minutes then baked them at 375 for 30 minutes, added the glaze and voila - can we say DELICIOUS!! They may not look gorgeous but they taste great!

I'll be trying pizza dough tomorrow night!
